There’s more than one way to manage your freight shipments. Some businesses keep everything in-house, some outsource the whole thing, and others go for something in the middle.
- DIY (Do It Yourself) – You book the carriers, handle customs, negotiate rates, track shipments, the entire process. Full control, but also a lot to manage.
- DWY (Done With You) – The flexibility of in-house logistics, without the commitment. Companies get access to expert freight management while deciding how much they want to handle themselves.
- DFY (Done For You) – The traditional model. You hand it off, a forwarder runs the process. Simple, and trusted, but lacks the control and transparency of the other options.
Each has its ups and downs. Some businesses love the control of DIY, others stick with DFY because it’s what they know, and plenty find the right balance with DWY.
Which way do you lean?
