Where are the next generation of freight professionals coming from?

Where are the next generation of freight professionals coming from?

Walk into most freight forwarding companies in the UK and you’ll find:

• An experienced ops team

• A lot of pressure

• And not many people under 35 (81.1% of transport managers are over 45!)

We’ve got decades of knowledge currently on the floor, but who’s next in line?

Where are the future ops leads? The account managers? The commercial heads?

We all talk about succession planning, but most teams are running so lean they barely have time to onboard, let alone develop talent.

I know there are some great young blood coming through, but demand for new logistics employees is 4.6 times higher than the number of young people aspiring to work in this sector.

Is this just a few companies. Or something we’re all starting to see?
